The turn and slide mechanism stops the eye cups depressing when pressed against your eyes, meaning viewing quality is maintained for extended periods.

The Nikon 7540s have a lot going for them. In terms of price and image quality, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better set of binoculars for under the $750 price mark.
Their versatility and durability are relatively unrivalled, making them the ideal choice for the average binocular user.
Cons
One area where the Nikon 7540s are not as durable and versatile as advertised, is when it comes to the lens covers.
The flip down lens covers are prone to snap off, leaving the lenses open to scratches and other damage.

Really, they should be charging a lot more, with some users saying they were hard pressed to find a set of better quality below $750.
