The use of binoculars is becoming more and more popular.
Where previous they were used almost exclusively by nature lovers and enthusiasts, they are becoming common place among less frequent walkers, sports fanatics as well as amateur astronomers.
Where previously binoculars have been precision designed to fulfil a particular purpose, more recently manufacturers have tried to fill the niche of an all in one, multipurpose binoculars.

Main Usage Of The Nikon Monarch 3 Binoculars
As an all in one set of binocs, the Nikon Monarch 3 8×42 Binoculars have no real main purpose.
They are an excellent choice for anyone looking for a multipurpose set of binoculars.
Due to the large field of view and easy centre focus, arguably the best use of these superb binoculars are for hunting, celestial viewing and sports.
The large field of view is ideal for spotting fast moving animals within the magnified area. Tracking is made infinitely easier with a large, crystal clear field of view.
Often with binoculars, with a large field of view you lose a lot of the clarity, but this is not the case with the Nikon 7540.
As a result of this, these Nikon binoculars are also perfect for locating small nebulas or clusters of stars when applying the binoculars to a more astronomical use.
Lastly, the durability of these binoculars also set the apart from the pack as a clear winner for the multipurpose binocular.
The rugged feel and lightweight build of the binoculars make for safe easy carrying.
As an added bonus, the Nikon 7540s are also tripod adaptable for extended periods of viewing.
Finally, as they are nitrogen filled and o-ring sealed, they are waterproof as well as fog proof, making them ideal for any weather condition.

Glass/Lens
Nikon employ fully multicoated eco-glass lenses, with high reflective silver-alloy prism coatings for unrivalled quality and high contrast images.
Anti reflective coatings mean that these binoculars make for great image quality at all light conditions.
The high reflective prisms help eliminate image degradation that can be caused by different light phases reflecting in the binoculars.
Magnification
The Nikon 7540 offer an excellent amount of magnification.
Boasting a 7’ static visible field, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better set of binoculars at such a low price.
The wild field of view make these binoculars perfect for locating fast moving birds within the view field, yet also give enough focus to use these binocs when looking upwards to the stars.
They provide eight times magnification through a 42mm objective lens.
Image Quality
Incredibly, Nikon maintain an excellent image quality throughout the viewing experience.
The field of view is wide, yet also a large enough apparent field of view to be able to track fast moving targets flitting in and out of view.
Technology within the lenses offer high-contrast images that display a colour representation that is second to none in the same price range.
Nikon advertise that the 7540s deliver the ‘ultimate in brightness and resolution’ and from increasing use, I’d be inclined to agree with them.
The central focus knob offers quick focusing, where precision aligned optics give great targeting for extended hunting trips.
Eye Relief
The multi-click turn and slide eyecups offer an excellent degree of eye relief.
Cushioned pads offer a great degree of comfort for extended viewing sessions, and there is ample spacing left between the end of the cup and the lens to accommodate the glasses wearing user.
The turn and slide mechanism stops the eye cups depressing when pressed against your eyes, meaning viewing quality is maintained for extended periods.
Pros
The Nikon 7540s have a lot going for them. In terms of price and image quality, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better set of binoculars for under the $750 price mark.
Their versatility and durability are relatively unrivalled, making them the ideal choice for the average binocular user.
Cons
One area where the Nikon 7540s are not as durable and versatile as advertised, is when it comes to the lens covers.
The flip down lens covers are prone to snap off, leaving the lenses open to scratches and other damage.
Conclusions
As mentioned many times in this article, the Nikons Monarch 3 8×42 are an outstanding set of binoculars.
Really, they should be charging a lot more, with some users saying they were hard pressed to find a set of better quality below $750.
Durable, ergonomic and comfortable these are the ideal set of first ‘proper’ binoculars, with enough features and quality to keep even the experienced binocular user entertained.
In short, for anyone that needs binoculars, these seem an essential purchase.
